Friday, 12 November 2010 18:42So I haven't been on Steam for ages because I still don't have a gaming PC after all this time.
But since I'm hoping to rectify that shortly, I decided to pop into the steam website and pre-order Poker Night at the Inventory so I can get the free TF2 stuff.
Anyway, Steam automatically detects your location using your IP Address and adjusts price accordingly. And since New Zealand has exorbitant prices compared to other places we get shit like this:

Fuck you Bobby Kotick. May your seed by wiped from the Earth.

2010-11-12 06:50 (UTC)You'd think it would have gone down a little since the NZD is worth a lot more against the USD than it was a year ago.
...or did the prices used to be even worse yet?

2010-11-12 07:56 (UTC)I checked EB games here in New Zealand for the XBOX360 version of CoD Black Ops and.....It costs 120$....US!
WTF?! This is just customer raping now. It's impossible that transport costs make a videogame go up 100% in price. They're just banking on all the CoDtards buying this whatever the price.
I mean, I just ran a quick check with Amazon.com and Call of Duty Black Ops is 98 US dollars with 2 day shipping and a free 12 month Xbox Live Subscription.
98$ is still expensive but GODDAMN it's better than 120!

2010-11-12 16:43 (UTC)And even if it is, he's just being a good CEO. I'd probably do the same thing with this game, though probably not with others.
Given the general distaste for him in the gaming community, I wonder how his employees feel about him.

2010-11-14 07:01 (UTC)I notice people who are actively developing games for Activision go out of their way to say what a great company Activision is, and how much freedom they have.
People who have left Activision and are no longer bound by NDAs tend to be a lot less flowery.
Imagine that.
