World Cup recap
Saturday, 26 June 2010 06:03A while ago I posted a world cup extravaganza where both me and
superbus gave our world cup predictions on who would get out of the group stages. Let's look at who won, shall we?
Group A: Uruguay and Mexico
burning_phoneix : Uruguay and Mexico
superbus : Mexico and France
Group B: Argentina and South Korea
burning_phoneix :Argentina and Greece
superbus : Nigeria and Greece
Group C: USA and England
burning_phoneix :USA and England
superbus :USA and England
Group D: Germany and Ghana
burning_phoneix :Germany and Ghana
superbus : Germany and Serbia
Group E: Netherlands and Japan
burning_phoneix :Netherlands and Cameroon
superbus :Netherlands and Cameroon
Group F: Paraguay and Slovakia
burning_phoneix : Italy and Paraguay
superbus : Italy and Slovakia
Group G: Brazil and Portugal
burning_phoneix : Brazil and Portugal
superbus : Brazil and Portugal
Group H: Spain and Chile
burning_phoneix :Spain and Chile
superbus : Spain and Honduras
I think it's clear who won but let's tally it up anyway:
burning_phoneix: 13 correct, 3 incorrect (81.25 % estimation rate) includes 5 perfect predictions
superbus: 9 correct, 7 incorrect (56.25% estimation rate) includes 2 perfect predictions
The moral of this story? Chris should stick to hockey.

FENIX'S WORLD CUP BONANZA!!1!!!1
Tuesday, 4 May 2010 06:48You know what time of the year it is flist! IT'S FIFA WORLD CUP SEASON (shut up, you knew this information in advance and that's final) and so it's time for me to get all footy nerdy and write a huge article predicting who will advance from the group stages.
I'll try to keep it easy to read for those who aren't truly interested in footy......aw who am I kidding only
superbus cares about footy on my flist anyway. :(
So in order to spice things up, I'm going to quote superbus' world cup predictions that for some reason he made back in December before anyone knew the final make-up of the teams and we can all laugh at how wrong his predictions are.
Everyone loves to laugh at Chris, right? If that's not incentive enough to read under the cut than I just don't know what to do with you.
( YAAAAYYY EXCITEMENT UNDER HERE! )
Whew! that was long! But with my handy dandy world cup guide, even YOU can sound like a football pro to your friends and family.
BTW,
superbus 's predictions from back in December are here if you want to see them:

Wednesday, 24 February 2010 03:37On a footy forum, me and some other people were discussing why Brazilian players are opting to return home and play in the Brazilian leagues instead of going for the greater glory in Europe. Many ideas were discussed including weather conditions, culture shock, strict European regimentation and Brazil's new-found wealth.
And then one guy comes and knocks it out of the park:
They run back to Brazil because they can't hack it in Europe any more. Robinho was shit, Ronaldo fucks ugly trannys and has legs made of biscuits, Cicinho is Cafu without the pace, skill or defending ability and Fred was being kept out the team by that silly skillless wanker Baros.
They go home because it's easy as fuck playing in Brazil against teams that couldn't defend the goal even if you gave the centre halfs machine guns and they can piss about at training and on the beach safe in the knowledge they are paid by some company as a clothes horse marketing whore.
Even with the swearing, not a single word in that statement was untrue.

Friday, 16 October 2009 16:11I'm bored so I used tf2.fr's achievement generator to crank out some fake achievements. Can you guys name all the movie/game/sport refrences below?

6 of the achievements are from movies.
2 are from videogames.
1 is from football (soccer to you yanks)
1 of them is a general pop culture joke.
1 of the achievements has two refrences in one.
Here's the generator btw:

Friday, 19 June 2009 01:29Amazingly, Egypt has managed to beat World Champions Italy in the Confederations cup.
Almost fortelling the future, Pepsi of egypt produced this ad:
Of course they produced these ads for every team Egypt will face. :P
Translation:
Reporter: We have the Italian expert Mauro Lasagna
Italian: Latzanni! Latzanni!
Reporter: We asked him if the Italiano defense can withstand the Egyptiano attack?
Italian: We are the champions of the world....etc
Reporter: Pasta,Pasta. The expert confirms that the Egyptian team this year isn't easy and the Italians have trained hard but unfortunately their chance of winning is very slim.
Italian: Viva Italia!
Reporter: And of course he confirms that Egypt will be World Champions god willing!
